And The Reason Why They Shouldn't Would Be?...o_O

Over at Easy Opinions, Andrew M. Garland tells the story of a ditz who complained about the birthday cake she herself chose to purchase with the remark "They are profiting from my needs!".

Offhand, I would say that the overall lack of common sense and general selfishness inherent in leftist ideology may be remarked upon not only in her scorn for other people making an honest profit from providing her a service that she herself freely chose to use but also in the fact that she regarded cake as a need! @_@

Mood Music: Promise.

I'm glad you liked the story. It is all too true.

She wanted a cake that would properly celebrate her life. She just didn't want to pay much for it.

It looked to be a great cake. I missed not having a slice.

It may be I was too harsh on her. It's just...Over the years I've developed a few pet peeves and quirks and her phrasing kinda punched one of my buttons. To me, water to drink so one doesn't die of thirst is a need. Air to breathe is a need. Nutritious food to eat so that one doesn't starve is a need. The means necessary to obtain these things might be called a need. But cake? Compared to those things it's a luxary.

A small luxary. A common luxary. A reasonable enough luxary. But a luxary all the same. And you shouldn't spend the money on something you don't need if you're just going to make yourself unhappy over having done it. And it still seems to me that this was precisely what she was doing.

All the same, I'll hope she enjoyed her cake. ^_~
